2017 District Championship Won by Michael Wade

The 2017 NDGA District Championships were conducted over 18 holes at Merewether Golf Club on Sunday May 21.

The weather was good for golf with overcast mild conditions with little or no wind.   Many thanks to the greens staff as Merewether Golf Course was
presented in very good condition despite the recent rains.

136 players contested the event – a record number for the modern format for this event.

In the open Division the Winner was a very excited Michael Wade from Charlestown GC with a 3 under par score of 67. The Runner Up was local Junior Luke
Ferrier on 68 with Mark Rota from Pacific Dunes finishing 3rd with 69.

In the Senior, 55 and over, Division the Winner was Warren Gorton from Hawks Nest with 74 from Toronto’s Peter Drinkwater on 75.

The Junior Division saw local Junior Luke Ferrier prevail with a 2 under par 68 – with Waratah’s Caleb Bromley beating several more fancied Juniors to
take out the Runner Up prize with a very good round of 73.

In conjunction with these Championships – the NDGA conduct a competition between the Club Champions and Club Junior Champions  – For the Champion
of Champions Trophies   This year Junior Luke Ferrier won both of these Champion of Champions events – due to his being the Club Champion and
Junior Champion at Merewether Golf Club.   Congratulations Luke, well played.

In the Nett event held in conjunction we saw Bruce Day from Tanilba Bay with 67 on countback prevail from Luke Tranter from Muree and Rodney Hook from
Pacific Dunes.

The Team events with the best 3 of 4 scores saw Pacific Dunes run out winners with 217 in the Scratch Martin Shield event and Waratah with 218 winning
