Round 2 of B and C Grade Pennants held on Sunday September 18.
Charlestown played host to Division 1 teams – with Tanilla Bay hosting Division 2.
The weather was not kind – with most games getting in 9 holes before the rain increased and made golf difficult.

This year’s B and C Grade Pennants kicked off with Round 1 being held on Sunday September 11.
Toronto played host to Division 1 teams – with Pacific Dunes hosting Division 2.
The weather was conducive to good golf with fine and mild conditions.

The qualifying event for this years B & C Grade Pennant series, the Oc Colley Cup was played on August 7.
The 1st Round of the 2016 B & C Pennant Series will be on Sunday September 11.

The 2016 NSW Zone 2 Regional Championships were held on the weekend of August 20/21 at Magenta Shores Golf club on the Central Coast
Each of the 4 District teams consist of 5 x Masters, 6 x Open, 5 x Colts and 5 x Juniors
The Team to represent the NDGA was –
Masters
Warren Gorton, Michael Musgrave, Peter Gardiner, Les Oliver, Tony Southward
Open – Seniors or A Grade
Greg McMillan, Josh Greenwood, Ben Hillard, Justin Ely, Craig Avery, David Alexander
Colts
Isaiah Melia, Jye Forrester, Kane Burt, Bryce Pickin, Tom De Groot
Juniors
Dominic An, Reece Green, Jesse Fittler, Andrew Lange, Josh Robards
Magenta Shores is a challenging course normally, but with irrigation issues for the past 4 weeks, the ultra firm and fast greens saw the conditions turn
from challenging to brutal. This coupled with breezy conditions on the Saturday saw all players struggle.
The first round on Saturday saw only 1 player break 80. Defending Champion, Greg, McMillan, shot 81 to be the best from Newcastle and 2nd overall.
Conditions were so difficult we saw Scratch and Plus handicap golfers shoot scores on or around the 100 mark.
Sunday’s weather was a little more benign with little or light winds and most players improved on their first round score.
Special mention to the joint winners in Reece Oliver (Toukley) and Dylan Perry (HRDGA) with 2nd round scores of 66 and 73 respectively.
Newcastle’s best player was Mick Coutman (Waratah) with a combined score of 160 to take out the Runner Up Trophy. Unfortunately, Mick was not part of the
NDGA team so his good score did not contribute to the Jim Baker Team Event total.
Warren Gorton improved by 11 shots on his first round score to take out the Runner Up prize in the Masters Division.
Hunter River DGA won the Jim Baker Team Event with the NDGA finishing a distant 3rd.
Next Year’s event will be hosted by the Lower North Coast at Taree GC

The 2016 Oc Colley Cup for B and C Grade was conducted on Sunday August 7.
The B Grade event was held at Nelson bay GC with a field of 113. The weather started cool and foggy – but improved as the day progressed.
Congratulations to Nelson Bay’s Brett Allman who won both the District Championship scratch event as well as the Oc Colley Cup nett event.
Despite an extensive countback the 2 Nelson Bay teams could not be separated in the LW Clark team event and were awarded joint winners.
Well done to Belmont’s Grant Harrison who had a Hole in One on the 14th hole. Rumour has it that it was his 3rd ace.
The C Grade event was held at Muree GC with 109 starters with similar weather conditions to Nelson Bay.
Congratulations to John Backes from Muree who both the scratch District Championship and the nett Oc Colley Cup event.
John Backes also anchored the Muree team in the LW Clark Team event and were convincing winners.

Prize Vouchers and Ball prizes will be forwarded to the appropriate Club on Monday Aug 15
This prestigious event is played annually and this year was played at Shortland Waters GC.
30 players took part and enjoyed a game of golf on the modified Shortland Waters layout – followed by a Presentation Dinner.
Play by by invitation only to those persons that have made a contribution to golf and it’s administration.
The Winner of the NDGA Masters Jacket in 2016 was new inductee Paul Kennedy from Nelson Bay. Well done, Paul

The NDGA Final of the NSW Men’s 4BBB event was played on Sunday July 31.
It was played at Waratah GC with 8 pairs (16 players) participating in the Final.
Results
Winners – Darren Searl and John Marlow (Karuah) with a score of plus 5
Runner-Up – Brian Degotardi and Craig Hickey (Horizons) with plus 4 c/b
Third – Brian Stein and Geoff Stephenson (Horizons) with plus 4 c/b.
Congratulations to our winners, Darren and John, who are off to Bonville for the State Final.
