The second Round of this year’s B & C grade pennants was held on Sunday September 27.
Pacific Dunes and Newcastle GC played host to 5 matches of B Grade and 4 Matches of C Grade. The weather again was not ideal, with intermittent showers
. A late tee-off time at Newcastle GC saw the last match finish in the dark.

The first Round of this year’s B & C grade pennants was held on Sunday September 20.
Charlestown GC and Tanilba Bay GC played host to 5 matches of B Grade and 4 Matches of C Grade. The weather was not ideal, with intermittent
showers and rain periods providing testing conditions. A rain delay bue to flooded greens at Charlestown saw the last groups finish in the dark.

The 2015 B & C Grade Pennant series commences on Sunday September 20.
This year sees 13 Clubs qualifying in B Grade, with 11 Clubs in C Grade.

The 2015 Oc Colley Cup was a mixed affair.
Intermittent showers and light rain greeted the B Grade players at Merewether GC and continued throughout the day.
The course held up well and 125 players took part in the event. As well as the Nett Event, the Oc Colley Cup, there were other events held in
conjunction. This included a scratch event for the B Grade District Champion and a Stableford event as well.
This year’s Oc Colley Cup winner was Neil Lembcke from Nelson Bay with a score of 69 – to win on a count back from Travis McShane from Newcastle GC. Local
member, Adam Wren finished third on 70 on a count back.
In the B Grade District Championship event, 84 was a popular score – with Jed Malone from Hawks Nest prevailing over John McDonald form Nelson Bay and
Al Phillips from Tanilba Bay in the 4 way count back. Last year’s champion, Lachlan Baber, formerly Shortland Waters but now Newcastle was the
4th player to have 84.
The Stableford event winner was 16 year old Junior Andrew Lange from Nelson Bay with 36 points on a count back from John Corbett, Nelson Bay and Fraser
Newcombe, Pacific Dunes.
The Lionel Clark Cup is a teams event and comprises 4 players from each club with the best 3 Nett scores to count. This years winning team was from
Nelson Bay with the excellent score of 210.

The C Grade Oc Colley Cup event at Tanilba Bay, unfortunately, had to be called off before players had even completed 9 holes.
Consistent rain with intermittent heavier showers left several greens flooded and unplayable. Initially, play was suspended for a minimum of 1 hour,
but it soon became apparent that the weather was not going to relent and play was called off.
All players that registered in the Pro Shop and paid their Entry Fee will be credited with having played in the Oc Colley Cup – for the purpose of qualifying
for the C Grade Pennants.
A partial refund of $15 for registered players will be arranged via the Clubs.
Reminder – The 2015 B and C Grade Pennant Series starts on Sunday September 20.
The 2015 Regional Championship encompassing the Central Coast DGA, Hunter River DGA, Lower North Coast DGA and Newcastle DGA was played over the weekend
of 15 & 16 August at Hawks Nest Golf Club.
103 players took part in this year’s event and titles up for grabs were the Regional Champion, Regional Junior Champion (under 18), Regional Senior Champion
(over 50) , daily prizes in both scratch and net events, the Jim Baker Shield for of 21 players from each DGA and the Sandy Cameron Shield for teams
of 4 players from individual clubs.
Day 1 saw Dylan Perry (HRDGA) playing off his plus 5 handicap and Greg McMillan (NDGA) off plus 3 shoot fine rounds of 70, 2 under par, to lead the field
over night and set up a great day of golf on Sunday. Other creditable scores from NDGA members were 73 by Mick Coutman and Ben Hillard. Junior, Carter
Nepia had a 75 on Day 1 with Senior, John Sullivan shooting 74. Local hopes, Warwick Jones and Warren Gorton had 75 and 76 respectively.
Overnight rain cleared before the field took to the course on Sunday with expectations of a titanic struggle between Dylan and Greg and in the end Greg
proved too consistent shooting a par round to edge Dylan by 2 shots and claim the title. This was despite Greg recording a bogey on the final hole
to Dylan’s birdie and believing that he had let the outright win slip away. A check of the final scores showed a clear 2 stoke win to Greg McMillan
with 142.
Congratulations to our Regional Champion, Greg McMillan. 
Generally, the scores on Sunday were 2 to 4 stokes higher than Saturday, due mainly to course setup. The Hawks Nest course was in excellent condition and
course staff and Club officials are deserving of high praise for their efforts in hosting this tournament.
Apart from Greg McMillan’s fine par round on Sunday, other notable scores by NDGA players were the 73 by Justin Ely and 74 by Colt, Jye Forrester.
Tanilba Bay Junior, Carter Nepia, having finished second in last year’s Regionals, turned the tables on Central Coast’s Darcy Boyd this year, having a
fine 77 on Sunday to win the Regional Junior title by 1 stroke. Congratulations Carter.

Warren Gorton, in the Senior’s division had scores of 76. 78 to finish Runner-Up to the Central Coast’s Greg Watton.
Apart from winning the Titles of Regional Champion and Junior Regional Champion, Newcastle DGA personnel also won the overall Jim Baker Shield (for all
21 players) and the Sandy Cameron Shield for the individual Club teams of 4 players. with Waratah’s team of Greg McMillan, Ben Hillard, Mick Coutman
and Brian Carmichael wining this event convincingly.

The team and officials will be staying at the Hawks Nest Motel – See Rod for room allocations and keys.
Saturday Evening Meal
The team will be having dinner at the Hawks Nest Golf Club at approx 6.30pm.
Transport
To and from Hawks Nest will be by own arrangements.
The NDGA Representative Team recorded their fourth win of the year by beating the Central Coast DGA by 8 matches to 4 at Waratah GC on Sunday July 26.
This maintains the Teams unbeaten record for the representative matches this year having been victorious in the Peter Porter Cup and Inter-District matches
against Hunter River, Illawarra and now Central Coast.
The Senior squad anchored the win by winning their division by 5.5 to 0.5 matches – with Ben Hillard having a drawn match, being the only Senior
not to record a win.
The Juniors proved to be a surprise packet. Although losing their division by 3.5 matches to 2.5 they performed very creditably given that many of
the regular Juniors were unavailable. Their replacements Jesse Fittler, Jordyn Ward and Rhys Ballinger, playing for Newcastle District for the first
time did not lose a match with Jordyn having a first up win and Jesse and Rhys squaring their matches. This augers well for the future of the
Junior Rep Team.
