Rep Team Named for Match Against Hunter River – UPDATED

The annual match against the Hunter River District for the P.R.West Shield will be held at Singleton GC on Sunday June 21.

The format for this event and the other Inter District events has been changed after the other Districts voted to field team comprising Seniors and Juniors
only. The Masters and Colts categories have been amalgamated into the Seniors.

The Team will consist of 6 x Seniors and 6 x Juniors.

Tee-off time is 9.00am.   Officials for the day will be Mick Dodd and Rod Carruthers.   Players should report to either of them by 8.30am.

JUNIOR PENNANTS – ROUND 1 UPDATE

Inclement weather greeted the players for Round 1 of this year’s Junior Pennants, held at Toronto CC on Sunday May 31. The first 9 holes was played in
steady rain before easing during the back 9.

22 players from 5 Clubs participated in Round 1.   In the Teams event, where the best 4 of 6 scores count, Port Stephens Composite team, with
a score of 345 lead from Belmont on 367 and Waratah on 398 – in the Gross score event.

In the Nett Teams event, Port Stephens also leads on 287, from Belmont on 315 and Merewether on 333.

In the Individual Gross and Nett events, held in conjunction, Josh Cook from Merewether had the best Gross score with 79, while Andrew Lange from Port
Stephens had his best round for some time to win the Nett event with 64.

Next Round will be held on Sunday June 14 at Newcastle GC – with tee times from 10.30am. Check here on the website for the Draw for Round 2 in the week
prior.

Junior Pennants Commence Sunday May 31

The 2015 NDGA Junior Pennant Series commences Sunday May 31 with the first Round being held at Toronto CC with tee times from 8.30am.

Five Clubs have submitted a Team for this year’s Series, namely, Belmont, Merewether, Port Stephens Composite, Toronto and Waratah.

Peter Porter Cup – Photos

Peter Porter Cup Won by NDGA Representative Team

The NDGA Representative Team warmed up on Sunday May 17 for the upcoming Representative season by convincingly beating a team from Newcastle Golf Club
in the annual Peter Porter Cup event.

The victorious NDGA Team, proudly displaying the new NDGA Shirts, Logo and Caps

This years event had the usual format of Fourball matches in the morning followed by Foursomes matches in the afternoon. However, this year the makeup
of the contestants changed with 4 ladies from Newcastle GC and 4 ladies from the NHDLGA joining the 8 men from Newcastle GC and the NDGA in this 36
hole event.

In the Men’s division the NDGA team went through undefeated in both the morning and afternoon rounds.  In the Ladies matches, Newcastle Gc was successful
in 3 matches with the NHDLGA ladies winning 1 of the 4 matches contested.

PENNANT DINNER and PRESENTATION NIGHT

The annual NDGA Pennant Dinner and Presentation Night was held at Newcastle GC on Saturday May 9.

A total of 63 people attended and had a great night with great food, good wine and helped our Pennant Winners and Major Events Winners celebrate their
achievements.

This years winner of the Division 1 Pennant was Waratah GC.   This is Waratah’s 4th consecutive win and they are certainly the team that others
are measured against..   The Runner-up in Division 1 was the Toronto CC.

In Division 2 – this year’s Winners were Merewether GC with Shortland Waters taking the Runner-up award.

This night also serves as the Presentation to the Winners of the NDGA Major Events held throughout the year.  This year’s Presentation was dominated
by 17 year old Junior, Blake Windred.

Blake collected trophies for being the District Champion, Junior District Champion and Junior Champion of Champions.  Blake was also was awarded the
winner of the NDGA District Vardon Event.  Certainly a successful year for Blake Windred.   Congratulation Blake.

Other trophies were presented to Terry Blomfield for his win in the Senior District Champion event and Justin Ely for his win in the Champion of Champion
event held in conjunction with the District Championships.

The Draw for the District Final for this GolfNSW event has been released.

This year the District Final is being Held at Muree GC with Tee times from 9.00am.

With only 5 Clubs holding a qualifying event, we have only 6 pairs contesting the District final – giving each pair an excellent chance of being
the one to go through to the State final at Bonville GC on September 8-11.

BLAKE WINDRED ADDS AUTUMN RECORD TO HIS RECORD

Blake Windred continued on his winning ways, winning the Autumn Record by 4 strokes over 36 holes at Newcastle Golf Club on Sunday May 3.

17 year old Blake had a 3 under 69 in the morning round and followed that with a par round of 72 in the afternoon to finish on 3 under 141 to finish 4
strokes ahead of Runner-Up and Australian Amateur Champion, Cameron Davis with (69, 76) 145.

Equal Third a further 5 stokes back were Toronto’s Justiin Ely with Kieren Jones and Beau McDonald.

Newcastle GC President and 6 marker, John Twohill, played to his handicap with 12 over for a nett 144 to be the  Nett winner at the Autumn
Record by a stroke from Mitch Beohm.

The event was played in difficult, sometimes brutal, conditions and a field of 68 players contested this prestigious long standing event.

Justin Ely Wins Karuah Open

This year’s Men’s Karuah Open / Seafood Day attracted a near capacity field of 73 players. The best scratch score on the day was by Justin Ely with 70

Runner-up went to Will Semmens with a 72.   Mick Dundas winning the count back from Rick Muldoon on 76 to take 3rd place.

Local Nathan Stokes won the nett event with a 63.
