Golf Illawarra Triumph over NDGA Representative Team in a Very Close Match

On the weekend of July 7, 8 the NDGA hosted a team of 16 from Golf Illawarra at Newcastle Golf Club. They played Foursomes Matchplay on Saturday afternoon
– with Individual Matchplay on Sunday morning.

Each team consisted of 8 Seniors, 4 Colts and 4 Juniors.  This match was part of a series where the NDGA, Golf Illawarra, ACT Monaro DGA and Central
Coast DGA play for the David Wood Trophy.

The weather was a bit less than ideal for golf. Saturday being very windy, cool and even a brief shower of rain late in the round.  Sunday bought
very gusty winds, very chilly morning but no rain.

The teams appeared very evenly matched on paper – and this was confirmed by the actual results.   After the Foursomes on Saturday the NDGA team held
a slim 1 point advantage. The Individual matches on Sunday saw a 2 point advantage to the Illawarra team – Resulting in an overall advantage of just
1 point to the Golf Illawarra team.    Congratulations to them….

A close examination of the results for each group will show just how close the 2 teams and results were.
